And my tiny thoughts are thus expressed…

Rather than actually say anything of value, today I’ll just throw the first things that come to mind on to this page. A thought experiment, if you like.

I think that the only reason Bjork didn’t end up marrying Thom Yorke is because she would have had the name Bjork Yorke, which sounds like something the Swedish Chef from the Muppets would name his child.

I just bought a $100 espresso and coffee maker. Feel free to make fun of me, because while it was an exorbitant amount of money to shell out for drinks… they are darn fine drinks, indeed. Thank you, Starbucks, for teaching me the art of making frothy concoctions, so that I may do it myself for free.

I watched Tropic Thunder last night completely expecting to hate it (my taste in movies lies more in the realm of “Memento”, “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”, etc), and I loved it. Robert Downey Jr. alone is worth the matinee price, not to mention Jack Black’s uncharacteristically actually-funny performance and Tom Cruise’s surprisingly hysterical cameo. My one caveat is this: go alone, or with friends who enjoy Lewis Black or Bill Hicks, because the language is through the roof. I don’t mind, but I don’t want any nasty comments from folks who took their grandma.

Speaking of Bill Hicks, I just found out that a biopic of his disappointingly short life is being tossed around by major studios. Which is unbelievably ironic and unbecoming of his legend. I think the last thing Bill Hicks would want is a high-budget summer movie about himself for a MySpace-generation audience. If this thing comes out (especially with Russell Crowe talking about playing Hicks), it will be awful. I mean, truly and wholly abominable. We’ll have to wait and see, I guess, but after movies like “Speed Racer” and “Death Race”, I don’t think studios are going to listen to reason if there is a buck to be made.

I move in to college on Friday. Is it odd that I think I’ll enjoy a semester of hard work and insanely late nights more than I enjoyed a 3-month summer of sleeping and writing music?

It’s past my bedtime.

G’night, world.

And I tumble into this world…

I’ve never been able to keep a journal consistently. My thoughts end up scattered haphazardly over countless napkins, Moleskines, and class notes as a disparate collage of song ideas, story concepts, and simple life observations that never achieve any sense of union with one another. It is as if my brain prefers to churn out tiny, self-sufficient pieces of errata rather than a unified, completed thing.

Hopefully, I’ll have enough self-discipline and common sense to put everything in one place from now on- here. We’ll see!

Lancaster Transit’s new album is nearing completion, which is something I’m terribly excited about. Hopefully we can have it out by the end of this year. Once you see the sheer number of tracks on the album, you’ll understand why it took us so long to get it done! I’m proud of what we’ve done, and I look forward to hearing what others think of the finished product. Maybe if I get enough pressure from everyone, I’ll release some snippets of the album on here. (maybe…) If you haven’t heard our first album, Aliens and Strangers, feel free to give it a listen at www.cdbaby.com/lancastertransit.

College starts back in a week… wow.

I’ll put up a short story rough draft tomorrow, so if that’s your kind of thing, stay tuned!

Time to go work on some music…
